Diocese of Austin

St. John Vianney, Round Rock, TX

Senior / Fourth Year

I was raised in Round Rock, Texas. During High School I was very involved in sports – Football, Track, Cross Country, Tennis, and Golf.

It was during this time that I converted to Catholicism. I had began reading and taking a more inquisitive approach to my beliefs, which consequently lead to my conversion and reception into the Church in 2004. I believe it is characteristic of any male Catholic to at least, for however brief a moment, consider a vocation to the priesthood. Having, through prayer and grace, discerned to further answer my questions concerning God’s will for me I entered Holy Trinity Seminary studying for the Diocese of Austin in the Fall of 2006. A large part of my call to seminary has had to do with my call to the Catholic Church. Through the grace of God I have been led to Holy Trinity Seminary, and shall have to rely upon that same grace when discerning my further call to the Priesthood.

“So Paul, standing in the middle of the Arepo’agus, said: “Men of Athens, I perceive that in every way you are very religious. For as I passed along, and observed the objects of your worship, I found also an altar with this inscription, ‘To an unknown god’. What therefore you worship as unknown, this I proclaim to you.” - Acts 17:22-23.

“All creation participates in God’s likeness by performing their proper operations. As man is an intellectual substance, his proper operation is intellectual knowledge. Therefore, man’s proper way to become similar to God is to know him.” - St. Thomas Aquinas, Summa Contra Gentiles Bk. II
