I am a native of Durham, North Carolina. In 1983, I received my Bachelor of Music in Organ Performance from North Carolina School of the Arts, Winston-Salem, NC, and was the recipient of the Kenan Scholarship in organ. In 1986, I received a Master of Music in Organ Performance and a Master of Sacred of Music in Choral Conducting from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, and was the recipient of a Meadows Artistic Award in organ performance. I then pursued doctoral studies at UNT with an emphasis in organ performance, harpsichord, and music history. While attending UNT, I was a teaching fellow in organ and harpsichord as well as a President’s Scholar in academic excellence.
Some of my artistic accomplishments include: First Place winner, Strader Organ Competition, University of Cincinnati; First Place winner, San Antonio Organ Competition; and featured soloist in the 1992 American Guild of Organist’s National Convention, Atlanta. I have recorded for National Public Radio, plus given many recitals and concerts throughout the northern and southern parts of the United States.
This year marks the beginning of eleven years at HTS and a total of 18 years in Catholic education. In addition to my duties at HTS, I serve as the Director of Music at Christ the King Catholic Church – supervising a comprehensive music program including choirs, handbells, instrumentalists, and guest musicians.
