Holy Trinity Seminary and the Diocese of Dallas were hosts for this final event to honor our Rector who will be Ordained and Installed Bishop of Shreveport on May 19 at ceremonies in Shreveport.

Bishop-elect Duca gave the homily which reminded those gathered that he was truly a native son, having been Baptised at the same Cathedral at which his parents, Lewis and Aline Duca were married years ago. He spoke from the heart about what his Catholic education and training had meant to him and how it influenced his decision to become a priest.

He talked about having "Hope in the Lord"--the motto he has chosen as bishop--and encouraged everyone present to do the same. He said that, although this was his final Mass in Dallas, that he would always call it home and fondly remember so many close family and friends, brother priests, and those seminarians he had the privilege of knowing and working with the last twelve years.

(Shown at left) Duca Family members present for the special evening included his parents, Lewis and Aline Duca, his sisters, Irene Casburn and Rosanne Dworaczyk. His brother, James Duca, unable to attend, was represented with a red rose carried by his sister.

John Bell, Judicial Vicar for the Diocese of Dallas, (shown above right with his Mother) explained that Canon Law says a Bishop-elect may wear or use certain items prior to Ordination including the Zuchetta, Pectoral Cross, Bishop's Ring, and Crozier.
