Bishop-Elect Duca: April 2-6, 2008 at the Seminary . . .

(Above) Bishop-Elect Duca arrives back at Holy Trinity Seminary
on April 3 after the Press Conference announcing his appointment by
Benedict XVI as the next Bishop for the Diocese of Shreveport in
Louisiana. Seminarians had made a sign complete with an improvised
"Bishop's Crest" showing the HTS logo. Bishop-Elect Duca gave brief
remarks and showed us his new zucchetto (or Bishop's cap) that can be
worn prior to his Ordination and Installation in May.

joyous celebration.

(above) Fr. Rudy Garcia, Vice-Rector (right) was the Master of
Ceremonies for the dinner which included speeches from various staff
members and the opening of the HTS gift--an Italian leather desk set.
   
Making presentations at the event were (l to r) Patricia Martin, HTS
Director of Development; Rita Backus, Executive Assistant to
Bishop-Elect Duca; Dr. Frank Lazarus, President, University of Dallas;
and Rosemary Moody, HTS Director of Kitchen and Household Services.
After
dinner, HTS Seminarians gave toasts for our new Bishop-Elect including:
Eynar Hernandez-Serrano (shown right) (Freshman) Galveston-Houston
representing 1st Year men, Jeffrey Baynham (Sophomore) Dallas,
representing 2nd Year men, Paul Iverson (Junior) Dallas, representing
2nd Year men, Barry Cuba (Senior) Austin, representing 3rd Year men, and
Pierce Gibson (Pre-Theologian II) Austin representing Pre-Theologians.
After presentation of gifts, Fr. Jim Orosco (below) gave final thoughts
and the Closing Prayer.
